Original ChopShop was founded in 2013 by an Arizona couple who'd grown tired of eating Chipotle every day. The chain was acquired by investment firm Hargett Hunter in 2016, and was later acquired by Houston-based investment firm Mac Haik Enterprises. 

Its menu focuses on customizable protein bowls, built on a base of vegetables, greens or rice. Everything is chopped and prepped in-house, hence the concept's name. All of the chain's 24 locations are company owned.
